Szczecin is a port city on River Oder, right behind the German-Polish border - the train from Berlin goes direct, and the trip lasts a bit less than 2 hours. Even though we will pass the border, you will not need your passport any more.
Szczecin is fascinating as symbol for the ties between Poland and Germany: Szczecin used to be German - till 1945, when the Russian Red Army gave Szczecin to Poland.
In 1945 British bombs had leveled the city, but the Polish reconstructed it: Today it is an impressive mix of historic architecture and socialist high-rises.
Szczecin, once modeled on Paris, is still beautiful, but its biggest asset are its people: cosmopolitan and friendly.
Upon arrival we´ll have a coffee and maybe some of the cakes that Poland is famous for. You´ll see the old town (some houses there were built in the 12th century), and we´ll take you to see the port: online guide.
Departure in Berlin: 7.30 am
Back in Berlin: 6.30 pm
